VMware Workstation 7 & 8 use the same procedure to set up Virtual Machine.
Open Software and click on “Create a New Virtual Machine”
Either of the two options selects the recommended one and press Next.
Select “I will install the operating system later.”
Select “Guest Operating System” and select the version of O.S from drop-down box. Here I selected the OLE 64 Bit. Press Next.
Select the Machine Name and Path for locating the Virtual Machine related files. Press Next.
Select the Maximum disk size and select the option “Split virtual disk into multiple files” as there are benefits of using this option. And benefit is mentioned below itself.
Press Next. We are almost done with our machine.
But before we press Finish, click on “Customize Hardware…”
Below screen will come:
Increase the memory to fit your requirement.
Select Floppy and remove it. See the updated window below:
Now click on Close and press Finish.
We are ready with our machine:
Now click on “Edit virtual machine setting”:
Select CD/DVD from left and use the option of physical drive or directly select the iso image file:
I selected the option of “use ISO image file:” and browse the iso image from my local system. Click OK and we are ready to install Operating System.
